BUT ask yourself truthfully, were you not one of the hundreds who were trying to follow the last half of the opening ceremony before the Paul McCartney's performance with the thought
"its SO Much to take in. "
Some claimed the reason for not taking a much needed break from their phones, TVs or other devices
was the idea of seeing their own family and friends
So I'll Get straight to the" point"
- The first point goes to "personality."The ceremony focused on Britain and all its attributes its growth , literature and beautiful songs.

To hear the commentator say that he had not touched his mike during that scene is proof enough.To think that her Majesty the Queen would jump out of a helicopter caused some children and even adults to shout out jump during the James bond scene; but as we saw IT didn't happen .
- Two points go to creativity.the creation of the stage and the transitioning between eras was excellent
SO WHY LOOSE 1.75 points?
I NEEDED CONSTANT COMMENTARY
The Average attention span is is now 5 minutes. The opening ceremony was 3 whole hours.The saying goes too much all at once may get the job done but is it done well ?. The whole purpose of an opening ceremony is to be remembered not only for the people you have in the media all the time but for your culture. For the Beijing Olympics they focused on specific details, the same momentum was kept form beginning to end and you were able to have a full view of their rich culture with far less. In other words LESS IS MORE.
- The final 3.25 points go to the use of technology .The transition to the formation of the rings was spectacular. The method used to light the torch was very different and breathtaking
